Pennsylvania Congressman Jason Altmire Is The Man

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Look, I'm not going to get into any great detail about his policies or anything like that, but Jason Altmire is now the man.

He's a congressman from the Fourth Congressional District in Southwest PA, mainly covering Beaver, Mercer and Lawrence Counties.

The second-term Congressman used time on the US House of Representatives floor to praise the Steelers for winning their unprecedented 6th Super Bowl ring.

As Jason says, there are 31 teams in the NFL...and then there are the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hank Williams Jr.'s Political Endorsements Will Tear the Steelers Apart OMG!

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Apparently, the Steelers super-fan was on Fox News campaigning for John McCain and Sarah Palin. He even wrote a god-awful song about the duo.

Does he not know that just about every Steelers player this side of Lynn Swann has been backing Obama? Dan Rooney, too? Is he aware of McCain's pandering to Steelers fans?

Don't tear the team chemistry apart, Bocephus!

Also, is that a #62 jersey? Wanna play some O-Line?

John McCain Is Old Or A Liar

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate on the elderly that much. Sure, they're old, they don't understand new technology and they keep trying to give me that damn ribbon candy, but I gotta respect them for their contributions to this world. And even if those contributions are merely a bowl of Werther's Originals.

However, KDKA had a story, which I read on Deadspin, that said John McCain named members of the Steelers' defensive line when interrogated by the Viet-Cong as a P.O.W. Smart and cunning, throw out the first names you could think of, save your buddies' asses and confuse the shit out of the dirty foreigners trying to kill you and yours.

Be reminded that McCain was in Pittsburgh when he dropped that little information nugget. There's one problem. In his autobiography, McCain is quoted as saying he gave up another teams' names:

Pressed for more useful information, I gave the names of the Green Bay Packers' offensive line, and said they were members of my squadron.

That's from his 1999 book, Faith of My Fathers. Trying to win over the Steelers/Western PA vote, just like rival Barry Obama did a few weeks back?

ytownohio elaborates on Daily Kos about the KDKA story:

That's all well and good, but from 1967 to 1973 during McCain's imprisonment, the Steelers were just starting the process of assembling the great teams everyone remembers.

...

[The Packers claim] more sense since the Green Bay Packers of the '60s were nationally recognized. McCain's Steeler claim is at best false pandering and at worst a window into a easily confused 71-year-old man.

That makes a bit more sense. McCain has an event scheduled for Washington D.C. at the end of this month. If the story changes to him giving up Russ Grimm and the Hogs, we'll know something is fishy.

The Steelers Are Obama's Team

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Man, Obama is pulling out all the stops in order to win over the Western part of PA.

According to this video, Barack is a huge Steelers fan, and he adopted the Black and Gold as his team when he was growing up in Hawaii.

I do like that Barack is pushing for acceptance in the Steelers half of the state. After all the bullshit we put up with concerning Ed Rendell and his man-crush on Philly, its good to see a politician stick up for the Steelers and Pittsburgh.

Honestly, Ed Rendell, shut up with Philly. You almost cost Pittsburghers the Penguins, then wanted to build a soccer stadium in Philly. SOC-CER! Jerk.

That last bit doesn't really concern the whole Obama/Steelers connection. I just needed a place to vent about Rendell.

I'm trying not to weave politics into my posts, but its getting hard with all the Steelers love in the Obama camp. Hell, I'm not even trying to weave male pornography into the site, but we all know how that went.

Props to Barack.

All this Obama/Clinton/PA bullshit will be behind us shortly. Breathe easy, folks.

Barack Gets More Steelers Backers

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

I apologize for the political posts polluting PSaMP recently. I enjoy politics, but try to keep my beliefs regarding the subject separate from the sports-writings on this here blog. I'd go and start a politics blog, but my time is already stretched thin, what with work and blogging and having a social life and playing "Rock Band" (that game rules) and all.

However, when politics and sports intersect (especially local sports), I have to bring you the goods.

Recently, I've told you of Barack Obama receiving endorsements from some big names in the Steelers family. Jerome Bettis and Franco Harris recently hung out with Oprah's boy toy. Dan Rooney backed Barack, but not on behalf of the entire team.

Now, Harris is joining forces (as we speak, I might add) with former players Dwight "Mad Dog" White, J.T. Thomas, Robin Cole, Larry Brown and Edmund Nelson on a "Steelers Vote For Change 5 County Blitz Tour" with Mr. Obama. Shit is going on right now. I have no idea where they are currently, because I'm a blogger, and I live in my mother's basement eating Bagel Bites while playing video games in my underwear and spouting lies about the MSM.

Kidding, but if I'm going to use a typical blogger-cliche, I might as well go all out and follow through with an epic explanation of our daily lives.

The TAE article says that the shindig:

...started at 9 a.m. at Aliquippa High School, and will continue with stops at the Carnegie Elementary School football field, the American Legion in Charleroi, the Obama Uniontown campaign office and the courthouse square in Greensburg.

They'll wind up the tour at Heinz Field with a 7 p.m. rally.

Your guess is as good as mine as to where they are at this very moment. Somewhere in the vicinity, would be my guess.

Go out and support Obama, if that's your thing. Many Steelers obviously want you to.

Dan Onorato is looking more and more foolish with each and every Obama supporter that comes out of the Black and Gold.

Dan Rooney Endorses Obama

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

As noted on PSaMP before, the Steelers are Democrats. Well, except for Lynn Swann.

The latest Obama-endorser is owner Dan Rooney. He joins Franco Harris and Jerome Bettis as Obama supporters.

"As a grandfather and a citizen of this community, I think Barack Obama's thoughtful, strategic approach is important to America," Rooney said. "When I hear how excited young people seem to be when they talk about this man, I believe he will do what is best for them, which is to inspire them to be great Americans."

Solid quote.

This is a bit of a surprise, seeing as how Rooney doesn't usually endorse candidates.

Apparently, the endorsement comes on the heels of stupid Dan Onorato foolishly giving Hillary Clinton a personalized Steelers jersey with Gary Anderson's old number. Thanks for setting the record straight, Roon!

Political Dissent Among Steel Curtain Steelers?

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Looks like politics break up the ties that bind.

From this picture, it appears both Jerome Bettis and Franco Harris are Democratic supporters. More importantly, they're Barack Obama-Democratic supporters.

Political endorsements have taken their toll on the Steel Curtain Steelers, as it seems. Back when (Republican) Lynn Swann was running for governor of Pennsylvania, the only hints of Steeler support came from this guy:

...and he was probably smashed out of his mind.

However, I don't know how long beatified bowler Bettis will be on board with Barack (The Bus is in the Bowling Hall of Fame). Especially after the presidential candidate recently posted a 37 at some lanes in Altoona.
