Hey Steelers, You Paying Attention?

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Check it out! (Whoa, I capitalized a letter to start a paragraph, what's up with that? Get used to it.) PSaMP has been officially asked to participate in Awful Announcing's Complete Sports Blogger's NFL Mock Draft Version 1.0! Your's truly gets to handle the Steelers' 2nd round pick, so if you have an idea, drop me a line. Simply put, bloggers from around the nation will be taking control of their favorite teams during a mock draft at AA, and our picks will be criticized, analyzed and made fun of by anyone who so chooses. For a complete rundown of what's going on, check out the link i provided up above, and AA will fill you in with the rest. The 14th pick of the round, aka the 46th overall pick in the draft, is completely up to PSaMP's choosing, so the Steelers better be watching.
Now its all in good fun, so I could pick, I don't know, Tyler Palko if I wanted, or maybe even some sweet mini pony. I'm hoping Ted Ginn Jr. is still around, that way TGjr and Santonio Holmes can use that tOSU foundation to seriously help our receiving corps (tongue-in-cheek, for those who can't take a joke).
Either way, it should be a great experience (well...an experience nonetheless). So any recommendations are welcomed.

Jeremy Green Thinks The Steelers Are So Solid

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

this is seriously the biggest picture i could find of jeremy green. he wrote a solid article about the steelers, in espn.com's solid "on the clock" section for all nfl teams in the offseason. he discussed the key additions, key losses and remaining questions for the steelers before draft day comes. in the "key losses" section, every guy that left was solid. hartings was a solid leader and whisenhunt was a solid offensive coordinator, but dont worry, pittsburgh fans, the new staff coming in is solid as well! sweet. all i know is that the steelers have way too much solid talent, and fans should expect a solid year from a team coming off a not-so-solid (liquid?) season.
oh yeah, one last thing. on fsn pittsburgh on the night of the pirates opener, stan savran unveiled the new fsn pittsburgh studio on the north shore. his first words on camera were, i kid you not, "hi pittsburgh and welcome to our new crib!" i just thought that was an interesting choice of words for mr savran. using the word "crib" in a serious conversation describing a house, building, apartment, etc. seems a little socially awkward for people over 30 years old. im not picking on the over-30 crowd, but stans been a sports media figure in pittsburgh for just about 30 years. so even if he started reporting sports news in pittsburgh as a fetus, stan still does not meet make my cutoff. savran looked a little awkward saying it, so maybe it wasnt his idea, totally. either way, he said it, and it stuck in my head. and now its in yours.

Joey Porter Hates Bengals

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

i dont care that hes no longer a steeler. joey porter rules. his trash-talking, ferocious play, getting shot in the asscheek, and punching levi jones in the face makes him, as well as the nfl, more entertaining. i have no problem that porter, a fan favorite, will now play his football in miami. joey seems to be the type of player that respects nfl rivalries, and i dont think he would ever go to the browns, bengals, ravens, etc. unleashing hell on levi jones in a neutral site goes to prove that.

texas lost. i didnt really jump on the durant-bandwagon. i actually had them losing in the first round. its gotta be tough for longhorns fans, knowing that they will never again see kevin durant play in college. he is a freak. i love watching him play, but the inexperince of both durant, although he had 30 points, and the longhorns ended up costing them a meaningful march run. that, and having rick barnes as a coach.

and everyone is still buzzing over jarkko ruutu. why not? its jarkko ruutu!

finally, does anyone wonder why, although dj gallo has had some good material here and there for espn.com's page 2, sports pickle sucks? that site makes me mad.

Could Any Other "Expert" Show Some Love?

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

according to espn.com's "the talk" (whatever that is), the topic of knowledgeable sports fans came up. not surprisingly, two of the four "experts" (i use that term lightly because i am about to use the words john, clayton, joe, theismann, and experts in the same sentence) picked pittsburgh steelers fans at the front of the list. those two, of course, were john clayton and joe theismann. eric allen picked chiefs fans, presumably because more than one person from kansas city turned on a television when lamar hunt passed away. len pasquarelli picked the eagles, i guess because philly gave him a lifetime supply of cheesesteaks and victory beer that len is trying to consume in one day. however, mr. pasquarelli did give the steelers a sort of honorable mention, yet disrespected this pick by placing steelers fans and browns fans together. i guess when he thought about knowledge in cleveland, he felt it meant strapping a dog mask to your face to watch your (second attempt at a) team constantly lose.
if a survey was taken, id be willing to bet that each person in the picture abve knows more about sports than any cleveland fan, let alone philly and kc.

i was happy to see that steelers fans got some attention. a friend of mine is from boston, and is a diehard pats/bosox fan. there were times that me n him almost got into fisticuffs (i always wanted to use that in a sentence) in discussing the pats and the steelers. at least this article in espn will give a little more credibility to my claim that the steelers rule.

thats all for now. just wanted to show that steeler fans are correct in assuming that we might not know everything, but we sure know a lot.

Whew...

thats the collective sigh of relief from millions of penguins fans in pittsburgh, as well as everywhere else around the world (you can say world when you got some friends from nepal that will sit down and enjot pgh sports with you). the pens have a deal in place with the city of pittsburgh, giving us patient fans another 30 years to enjoy crosby, malkin, staal, fleury, talbot, gwenjen (for you mondesis house readers), etc. so go ahead crosby, raise those arms and celebrate that you wont be going to kansas city, the place nhl hockey goes to die. i know it took almost 8 years, but mario's patience finally paid off. the way he has been constanly disrespected by the county, city and state legislators, as well as the local media, i'm honestly surprised that the team will remain in the steel city. while others have bashed mario for being a crybaby who didnt want to pay for his own arena, i tell true penguins fans to look how mario has saved this franchise time and time again. the man fought personal illness and injury to play for a team that he bought to save from being sold. then, he comes out of retirement to play for his team that still owes him millions. nowadays, his home is also the home of one sidney crosby (imagine the life lessons learned by the kid from lemieux, not just the hockey-related ones). finally, mario vanquishes the political bs that has been pushing him off and dodging his proposals for 8 years! give the man a break, please.
i am a lifelong pittsburgh resident and steelers/pirates/penguins fan. i bleed black and gold. my heart is with those three teams through the ups AND downs (for examples of "downs," see pittsburgh pirates, 1992 nlcs-present). i wanted to blog just to express my feelings about current pittsburgh-related sports topics. oh, and mini ponies might be the coolest things i have ever seen in my life. well, besides anything that has to do with steel city sports. i'll try to keep updated on new pgh sports topics as well as cool mini pony pictures. sweet.
