Kordell Stewart Was Either Gay or Not Gay

Stop me if you've heard this one...

...Kordell Stewart was rumored to be gay...

Yeah? You've heard that, too? It's the rumor that never seemed to have any resolution. We Steelers fans have heard it throughout his time in Pittsburgh, Will Leitch wrote about Stewart's ridiculous denials in God Save the Fan (closed-door meetings with teammates to describe the explicit sex acts he'd perform on the players' wives and girlfriends), and now...former Steeler Plaxico Burress has weighed in on the subject in his new book (link is also in today's MPotD).

"People were talking about [Kordell] being gay," Burress writes in Chapter 5. "The players heard that, but we never talked about it. I don't know if Kordell is gay or not. It was none of our business. If ever we would have talked about it, it would have made everybody uncomfortable. If some player was gay, I don't think he could come out while he was still playing. It would be real hard. It would mess a team up mentally and it wouldn't be good for that person."

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Stewart's straight-ness. If you come out and say, "Dude wasn't gay," people might believe that said player wasn't gay. If you say, "I don't know if dude was gay," a good many listeners will still question said player's sexuality.

If you're asking me what I think, you've come to the wrong place. If he is into guys, whatev. If he likes chicks, good for him. If he pulls a Tila Tequila and can't decide between the two, I hope he creates a reality dating show in which he gets his heart broken. No homo.

However, PSaMP has come into startling video footage that might finally put this controversy to rest:

LUIGI?!?!?!!!!!!11!!ONE!!11!ELEVEN!!!1!!OMGWTFLMAO

I don't know what to believe anymore.

Poor Kordell. He was the QB who led the team while the steelers had to rebuild that offense.

I find myself defending this guy way too much, Special Teams and a porous secondary should shoulder most of blame for the AFC Championship losses.

I yelled at the guy too many times to count, but looking back he did a decent job at QB, I mean how many people remember the Kent Graham Experiment? Considering through that time period in the late 90's there was a rotating door at the OC, and at WR.

so gay or not, what does it matter. I'm sure there are a lot of gay men in the NFL that haven't come out, I don't know about you, but I'm not going to the jewelry store to check out the latest items for myself, so I can look good out on the town, you know who likes going to clubs and looking their finest? Women and a majority of gay men. just sayin'

I have no care whether he's gay or not. As I said, my opinion means shit.

Anyone who says they didn't enjoy Slash when he first broke in with the team is a liar. He was otherworldly. Still, I'm not going to defend him, simply because I watched him bitch and moan, refuse to play WR, throw too many picks, fumble waaaay too often, tuck the ball and run before looking through his checkdowns and not reach the level that he thought he could play at. Sure Kent Graham was awful, but Slash had a lot more to do with his own ineptness than special teams and secondary.

I only really posted this because I had the link in the MPotD, and then I found that sweet Youtube.

I agree, he should have been a WR.

This is the depressing part. The team would be messed up if someone was gay?? Give me a fucking break. The amount of homophobia in professional sports is sad and increasingly ridiculous considering that in much of American society, gay people have been living openly for many years.
