Tyrone Carter = AFC Defensive Player of the Week

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

With New Years and all, this got lost in the shuffle. Tyrone Carter was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Steelers' Week 17 win over the Gowns. He nabbed his first two interceptions of the year, returning the second one for a touchdown. Pretty solid for the guy called off the bench to replace the hurt Ryan Clark.

When Clark went down with the injury against Tennessee, did you envision Carter getting MSPainted this week? Don't lie.

Now, Aaron Smith was tough, but I still think I found the one picture on the Internet of Smith with a female fan. In a kitchen.

LaMarr Woodley I can kinda understand, since he's still only in his second year. But not one picture on the World Wide Web? Weak. (That link has the greatest MSPaint of all time)

So I had to think about giving Carter the MSPaint treatment this week. I know he's been a backup for the majority of his 9 years in the league, but you'd at least think his Super Bowl XL ring could provide at least ONE picture with a member of the opposite sex. You'd be wrong.

So for a PSaMP first, Carter gets the business with a dude on either side of him.

Congrats on the first-time honor Tyrone (and dudes).

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Hope you had a good Christmas. I'll be back in a semi-normal posting schedule now that the holiday is over.

The Steelers had a decent Christmas break, too, destroying the Browns 31-0 to end the Romeo Crennel/Phil Savage era. But if you didn't hear, Ben left the game on a stretcher. Concussion...with a bye week to shake off the cobwebs.

I probably caught a little flak for the stupid MMCNY last week after the loss to the Titans. But I'm not a fairweather fan who just doesn't want to write after losses. Shit, we just won, and held our "rival" off the scoreboard, but the game was 99% pointless. Assessing this game's significance would be ridiculous.

The starters needed to be in for the offense to redeem themselves after the Tennessee game. Ben threw an early pick, but Willie looked good. Blah, blah, blah, Browns suck, blah, blah, blah, Crennel and Savage fired, blah blah, "rival," blah, blah. Did I do good enough?

Playoffs next week. We don't play until the following week, where we get the highest remaining seed (Indy or San Diego). I'm out.

And high five to Tyrone Carter.

Big Ben Hurt

Big Ben was injured with 1:48 remaining in the Second Quarter of today's game. After some tense researching and waiting, it appears Ben has a concussion.

Video of the hit by D'Qwell Jackson and Willie McGinest is below.

This Post Needs No Title

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

In case you forgot, the Steelers clinched the AFC North with a win over the Ravens this past weekend. Naturally, the fans and players have been sorta quiet, knowing full well that an even MORE important game looms on the horizon. Home-field advantage is on the line this coming weekend in Tennessee.

But what is a division championship without a little celebration? Right? Well, even if we are staying pretty reserved about our second straight division title, I still wanna bask in the glow for at least one more minute. Or 23 seconds, at least.

We all remember this little guy...the Steelers dog that totally dominated a Browns stuffed animal. That dude is a legend.

Well, the original Browns became the Ravens, so Baltimore naturally tries to one-up Cleveland at any chance. They defected from Ohio and won more Lombardi trophies than Cleveland ever has. Now, they wanted to show that they don't need no stinkin' stuffed animal to get dominated. ROLL TAPE!

I'm kinda weirded out and ready for more football at the same time.

DIVISION CHAMPS, BABY. EAT IT, BALTIMORE!

Steelers Logo Head Tattoos are Badass

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Yeah, we all remember this old lady, who got a Steelers logo tattooed onto her shoulder. Badass in its own right, but not nearly as hardcore as the guy in the above video.

And sure, Joe Thomas' aunt might've rocked the neck tattoo and painted-on NFL logo, but I'd only respect her if that NFL logo was a tat as well. That, and if she quit rooting for the Browns.

I have no tattoos, mainly because I'm scared of needles. But you better believe I'd be like Rick above and get the logo on my cranium if I conquered my fear. And I'd conquer my fear of ridiculous mustaches, too.

Browns Fans Love Their Team

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

I don't think I've ever felt compelled to flip off anyone/thing after my team just made a good play. This is Brodney Pool celebrating a Ben Roethlisberger sack with the score still knotted up at zeroes.

Join in the fun while the Youtuber scans the crowd, focusing on the many birds being flipped. Who were they all pissed off at? Some random Steelers fan? The Steelers sideline? Their own pitiful excuse for a team?

I'ma go with the latter. Stay classy, Cleveland.

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

As I said last week, the MPotD will come at you closer to mid-day.

The weather tried its best to even out the game, but only one team avoided the mistakes caused by the wind and rain. As you probably could've guessed, that team was the Steelers. And it was probably because Black and Golddust made it happen.

Listen, I don't want to hear "It's our time," or "the Steelers have won 9 in a row, so the we'll win this game" from Browns players or fans ever again. Last night's win makes it 10 in a row, and we're showing no signs of letting up on our "rival." How about field a competitive team, kill the turnovers and hold on to the ball. The weather affected both sides, but our game plan and play-calling provided us the opportunity to work the clock and gain yard when needed. Sure, there were a few too many punts for my liking, but you take what you can get when gale-force winds are flying through the stadium.

At the end of the game, we still sit at 2-0, and the Browns have the script entirely flipped. Where's that sexy pick of the Browns in the AFC North, football "experts?"

Ben. I'll admit that I was anxious to see how he'd perform in the elements, and as fans, we were allowed to expect a pick or two. Especially with the shoulder. Asshole Shaun Rogers tried his best to knock Big Ben out with the late hit directly to the suspect shoulder, but Ben hung in, and was able to rest his injury by just handing the ball off a million times. It wasn't a huge game by anyone's count, but I'll take 12 for 19 for 184 and a score most days of the week. 4 of 5 motorcycle helmets for Ben.

Willie Parker. Not really a standout game, but using the same logic as I did with Ben above, its nice to call a 100-yard game mostly meh. That 19-yard scamper late pushed him over the century mark, and he did enough to keep the Browns offense off the field. There were no real fireworks, but we'll blame it on the rain (Milli Vanilli-style) for this game. 3.5 out of 5 motorcycle helmets.

Michael Phelps. Corona cans? I don't know whether to mock your taste or compliment your ballsiness. A solid 3 of 5 helmets? Thanks for jinxing your boy Braylon.

Troy. The NFL is in for the second coming if Polamalu is 100% after the injuries he's had the past few seasons. He's been playing like a man possessed through two games, and I'm only hoping he can keep playing at this level without getting injured again. He saw that Anderson throw before Anderson threw it, and that pick was clearly the turning point in the game. Oh, and that flip over the O-line to disrupt the inside run was fantastic. Vintage Troy all night. 5 of 5 motorcycle helmets.

Santonio. Very quietly put up 94 yards and an 18.8 yard average. Without the weather, that might've been 150 and 20. His potential is crazy. 4 of 5 helmets.

Mewelde Moore/Mother Nature. I'll forgive the muffed punts all night. But only for one night. Its a forgivable 2 of 5 helmets.

And props to guys like Bryant McFadden (starting in place of Deshea and making a huge pick), Silverback (who was on meth again) and the rest of the D. I love how the announcers always fawn over Jamal Lewis when he plays the Steelers, and our D shuts him down every game. Makes me all warm inside.

Anyone you wanna praise or call out? Leave 'em in the comments.

Iggles next week. I shall forget my respect for the Steagles for this one week.

The Steelers Suck

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Sorry for the mad amount of Youtubes lately. Work has been hitting me hard with all-day meetings, and I don't want you to leave PSaMP empty-handed. This is the best I can do with the time I've got.

You do remember that this week is our first AFC North divisional game. And its against the Gowns (I was gonna use Brownies or Clowns, but Gowns is highly underused and fits perfectly with their girlish nature). So I scanned Youtube to find the latest smack talk, and the newest thing is a video entitled "Pittsburgh Steelers Suck" (above). I figure it'll give us fans a little more motivation, so we don't rest on our Texans-game laurels. Hell, I do my best to keep the team motivated...why not the same with the fans?

I coulda just linked to the random Browns thing(?) peeing on a Steelers fire hydrant, or the Steelers dog humping the Browns stuffed animal, but this is the latest piece of bulletin board material.

Funny how all the Steelers Suck/Browns Rule videos on Youtube cleverly forget that the Steelers have won 9 straight against Cleveland and 16 of the last 19. Man, we suck so hard.

Some Steelers Fans Are Douchebags.

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

To be fair, I've put down large groups of fans before, and I'd be a dick if I didn't point out stupid Steelers fans from time to time. Patriots fans, Blue Jays fans, Browns fans...they've all gotten the works here. But to be completely ignorant to a-hole Steelers fans would be just that...ignorant.

Dude, don't be a dick to street performers. I don't care if you're in Canada for the Steelers/Bills preseason game. I don't care that the Steelers lost. I don't care that they talk with that funny accent and say "ay" after everything. There's no excuse for being a punk.

But seriously, what's with that accent?

Browns Fans at Steelers Games Featuring the Texans = Stupid

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

I'll admit, I've worn a Steelers jersey while watching a Penguins game, but that's the cutoff point for random jerseys at or during sporting events. And I wasn't even at the arena...this was just me, at home, not being able to find a Penguins jersey in time. I'm pretty against wearing other teams' gear at the games, even if they're from the same city. You're at a Penguins game, so take off the Pirates jersey.

When I went to Shea three weeks ago or so, I wore a Mets hat. Yes, I own one (I live in Queens), so don't disown me, Pittsburgh fans.

This video is just stupid. You're at the Steelers season opener, a game featuring Houston and Pittsburgh...IN PITTSBURGH...and you've decided to wear a Browns jersey. That's freaking suicide if the Browns were in town, let alone with no other idiotic Clevelanders in the general vicinity. The Brownies game is NEXT week, asshole. I hope this dude was heckled nonstop throughout the entire game.

In related news, while at the Steelers bar in Hoboken yesterday, a few of us Steelers fans pointed out a girl walking in a Ravens t-shirt and booed her intensely until she left our immediate sightline. Serves her right.

Browns Fans, Players Are Cute

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

After the Steelers punished the Browns in Week 1 last season, I put up a video of the best possible summary of the game. It was short, to the point, funny and actually coherent.

Browns fans...I really don't get your side of the rivalry. The Browns haven't really been relevant in the twice a year battles, with their only bragging point being that they had a close loss in the second matchup last year. So when one searches Youtube for recent Browns/Steelers videos that favor Cleveland, the results are mostly laughable.

Take the above video. Our rivalry video had a dog in a Steelers jersey humping a Browns stuffed animal. Clever AND hilarious. Back to the video at the top of the post...what the hell? The Youtube page says it's a Browns bus peeing on a Steelers fire hydrant. Ummmm? Is that a leg on the bus? Is this real or taken from a video game? I can't tell what any of this is, other than a blob of nothing releasing water onto a black and gold fire hydrant. Ooooh, y'all are so edgy in Cleveland.

You can tell the football regular season is almost upon us. Pirates posts from here on out will be scarce, and Penguins articles will probably be thrown in from time to time. I'm ready for the football grind, though.

Oh, and Browns fans...here's your top two receiving weapons. I'm scurred.

Clevelanders Heart The Steelers

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

People who are good at Photoshop freak me out. I mean...anyone of these images could be real. At least to my untrained eye.

Big Snack at Pierogi's N'at sent me these pics from a post on his site and I needed to post 'em myself. Hell, seeing as how we just lost to the Jags a few weeks back, we could use whatever support we can get. I mean, all the "experts" are picking the Jags as their darkhorse Super Bowl contender. I'd like to see them backtrack if the Jags would have to play the Patriots.

Let's just hope the Lebron curse doesn't bite us in the ass, too. The Yankees are probably still pissed at him.

Browns Fans Have Selective Memories

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Many a Browns fan are calling for Hines Ward's head on a platter, referring to Ward's hit on Daven Holly in week 1. Ward was penalized and fined for the hit, as seen in this Ludacris-laced video:

Also, Browns fans were quick to criticize James Farrior (on this post) and his recent comments about Kellen Winslow, in which he said,

"[Winslow] better have his head on a swivel every time we go up against those guys because I’ll be looking for him."

For those of you with short memories, here is the hit on Farrior by Winslow from last season.

But its only the Steelers who do this kinda thing, right?

Right?

Anyone?

This Is Not "Browns Week"

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

Click on that picture for a larger view. Its from a Cleveland Browns blog. See if you can spot the weird combination of words that you will never find on a Steelers blog.

I took the time to peruse through a few Browns blogs, and I am scarred for life. All kidding aside, I wanted to see what some Brownies bloggers were saying about this week's match up between the top two teams in the North. As much as I hate the Browns, I will give some very little credit to the team for turning around what could have been a disastrous season. That's all the credit I'll give to our "rival."

I use quotation marks around the word rival because we've beat Cleveland 8 straight and 20 of the last 23 times.

Here's a compilation of what they're saying about this week's game over in Browns-land.

Dawgs By Nature. Are You Ready? Its STEELERS Week:
This isn't the Browns team that we saw in Week 1. This is the Browns team that has the offensive firepower to take down the Steelers, and just like the Colts/Patriots game was hyped all of this past week, you'd better believe that this is the "game of the year" for Browns fans.

-PSaMP's take: Didn't Cincy have the offensive firepower to take down the Steelers as well? Don't forget that our D hasn't given up 100 total points yet through 8 games.

Commenter on the Dawgs By Nature post:
Personally, as long as the secondary can step up and knock the crap out of Ward, I'll be happy.

-PSaMP's take: Let's ask Bart Scott and Ed Reed what they think about that comment.

Ace Davis' Cleveland Browns Blog. A Sporting Chance:
An upset at Pittsburgh would be a tremendous boon, no doubt. But even if the Browns, dare I say it, lose to the Steelers and even the Ravens the following week, they still will have a decent shot at the post-season if their confidence and health are not destroyed in the process.

-PSaMP's take: Confidence and/or health will be destroyed. Write that down. Still, Cleveland has a gravy schedule after the Pittsburgh game.

Brown's Locker. The Browns Have Claimed CB Ricardo Colclough:
[Colclough] has played in 36 games (0 starts) in his NFL career and he has made 60 tackles, 2.5 sacks, defensed 7 passes, had 1 interception and recovered 5 fumbles. This was a nice low risk/high reward move by the Browns.

-PSaMP's take: I'm not even going there.

Browns Gab. Browns Are A Different Team:
The Browns lost their season-opener at home to the Steelers, 34-7 as the offense managed just 221 yards. The Browns offense has taken off since Derek Anderson took over at quarterback as they’ve averaged over 31 points a game. The Steelers also collected six sacks, but Browns offensive line has allowed just one sack per game since the Pittsburgh loss. Crenenel believes that this meeting with the Steelers will help his staff get a better evaluation of where the Browns are in their development.

PSaMP's take: James Harrison doesn't care for your one sack per game since the Pittsburgh loss ratio.

Mistake By The Lake. Born And Raised On The Cleveland Browns: Week 9:
The Browns crush the Pittsburgh Steelers so mightily, all the Steelers players will retire, all the Steelers fans in attendance will commit themselves to an insane asylum, the Heinz corporation will go bankrupt, the color yellow will be removed from the spectrum of visible light, and The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh will be banned from cable reruns forever.

PSaMP's take: That piece of satire actually made me laugh in a "that is kinda funny" way. Well done.

I'll be looking for the streak to hit 9 consecutive and 21 of the last 24 straight games. The Browns have improved, but the Steelers D has been rock solid. And Bennifer is rolling. Steelers will win at home. Done and done.

Monday Morning Chrysler New Yorker

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

With their 0-3 start in the AFC North and their 1-4 record in the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens are about as socially and culturally relevant as Picway Shoes* right now.

Yes, I just successfully referenced Picway Shoes in a Pittsburgh sportsblog. I will begin to accept any and all compliments now.

James Harrison is a beast (Thanks to Ed Spags for the vid). I watched him exit the locker rooms with no helmet and thought, "Man, this dude is a beast." Then, he proceeded to tally a season's-worth of stats. And just in case you were wondering, I'm no James Harrison-bandwagon-jumper-on-er. Take a look at my Blogger profile. That's no accident. He's been my guy for a while.

Tale of the tape: Ravens should have stayed home. Underlying theme: James Harrison was on meth.

I was in a state of euphoria at kickoff last night, what with the Pens dominating old foe New Jersey, the all-time Steelers team prowling the sidelines and the Steelers about to crush Jesus Lewis and the listless Ravens. That 38-7 final almost seemed too good to be true.

And yes, it was okay for Ben to still be in the game when Suggs pushed him. It was the 3rd quarter. This wasn't Tom Brady going for 4th and whatever late in the final frame. Oh, and I only referenced Tom Brady because his name was brought up about 50 times last night by the MNF crew. Honestly, can a quarterback do anything good without being compared to Tom Brady? I truly don't think so.

Enough of my rambling. Let's look at the studs and duds.

Bennifer. ***SPOLIER ALERT*** He's going to get 5 of 5 helmets. No picks or fumbles in the slop was what stood out most in my mind. Yeah, those 5 passing TDs in the first half were pretty good, but I'm more impressed with how Ben handled the elements and refused to turn over the ball. Compare that to Air McNair. Sure, Ben finished with only 209 yards (probably the lowest total by any QB tossing 5 TDs) but most of that was due to Baltimore turnovers on their own side of the field. 13 for 16 is just ridiculous efficiency. I know I already spoiled it, but 5 of 5 motorcycle helmets (one for each TD) for Large Ben.

Fast Bill. Did not impress me at all. Najeh seemed to be a better fit in the slop against a stout running D like Baltimore. William only averaged 1.8 yards per, and could not get anything going. I hope its due to the elements rather than the defense, and Willie returns to form soon. However, he can't continually blame the weather. It won't always be 65 and sunny in January. Baltimore was a test for the Heir-Bus, and he failed. 3 of 5 motorcycle helmets for pounding the rock 23 times despite being frustrated all night.

San Antonio. 4 receptions for a buck ten. 2 of those 4 were touchdown grabs. San Antonio had more receiving yards (110) than Baltimore had total yards (104). He dropped that one pass in the end zone, but recovered nicely to finish off the drive with a touchdown in the opposite corner. He played better than the entire Baltimore team (which wasn't hard to do), so I'll reward each of his catches with 4 of 5 motorcycle helmets and a hearty pat on the back.

James Harrison. ...was on meth all night. Dude was filling in nicely for Joey Porter all season, putting up solid stats and making sure Yinzers weren't questioning his roster spot. Last night, Harrison nearly made fans want to replace Porter with Harrison on the all-time team. Look at those numbers one more time. 10 tackles (9 solo), 3.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovered and 20 interception return yards. Most undrafted free agents would kill for a season like that. Harrison was an undrafted free agent who did that in one night, against every "expert's" favorite defense. 10 of 5 motorcycle helmets, just because I can.

Throwbacks. Those unis are now 2-0 this season. Plus, those "used Q-Tip" helmets were hitting balls left and right. Keep the unis. Use 'em every year. 5 of 5 motorcycle helmets for the throwbacks.

Ooooooh...the Browns are 5-3! I'm so scared.

*For those of you who weren't poor, Picway was a shittier version of Payless ShoeSource. It sucked big time.

Monday Morning Chrysler New Yorker

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

1 and 0, baby! All around, that was a fantastic way to start the regular season. I actually felt weird during the game, because I couldn't find many faults to criticize in this, the regular season premiere of MMCNY. Honestly, any/all criticisms are ridiculously minor this week. If we continue to play like this week in and week out, there should be no excuses/losses.

Tale of the tape: Cleveland Steamer. Underlying theme: Highlight plays = Comfortable wins.

I've never been a fan of the showboat-y types, and would rather see smash mouth football played by humble warriors. However, the highlight plays (interceptions, sacks, fumble recoveries, deep passes, breakaway runs, etc.) are a great way to separate a good team from a dominant team. A team can be comfortable with close games and just doing enough to win, but I want to see my team absolutely destroy the opposition. I don't want to have to worry about the sheer possibility of losing. A Steelers loss means I am in a horrible mood for the entire week (and that will reflect in my writing). Now, this is PSaMP's first go-around for Steelers season, so you (the reader) have yet to experience that. I can assure you, though, that I will not be a happy camper if/when (I'm emphasizing if) the Steelers put up an L. The highlight plays really put this game away.

No, Troy Polamalu didn't intercept Charlie Frye on the Brown's opening possession, but the D stepped up, and the O took over right away in Cleveland territory. Actually, that happened a lot this game. With all the short fields, Big Ben's passing yards were down, but his touchdowns were way up.

So let's look at the highs and lows. Here's a bit of foreshadowing...there aren't many lows when you absolutely dominate your rival (can we still call them that?)

Ben Roethlisberger. Did '06 happen? Large Ben showed everyone why '07 will be more like '05 rather than '06. Finishing 12 for 23 for 161 yards...eh. However, when 1/3 of those completions are touchdowns, then you know something is working. Ben created a healthy blend of downfield passes with underneath check-downs. The check-downs outweighed the bombs, a main reason why he only threw for a buck sixty. That, and he barely played in the fourth quarter. In the first quarter, Ben would've gotten 5 helmets. However, to end the second quarter, Ben missed his last nine straight pass attempts. The receivers were to blame on several of those nine, so Ben gets one helmet per touchdown toss. 4 of 5 motorcycle helmets for Enormous Ben.

San Antonio Holmes. (How many times did Kevin Harlan call him that?) This guy is gonna be a beast. Simple as that. The dude's a weapon, and displayed his sophomore maturity all game. He threw a few keen blocks, had an 11 yard run (I'll forgive the fumble at the end if it isn't repeated) and got wide open for a 40 yard touchdown catch. We haven't had a speed receiver like Santonio since Plax, and the combo uses of Homes and Wilson lets Bruce Arians call 'Twaan-like gimmick plays. Holmes is a component of this offense that can really make the team dynamic. Hold onto the ball, and the you can help the Steelers compete in the rough AFC North. 4 of 5 motorcycle helmets for the beast.

D. Wow. I love when the experts put all their money behind excuses like "The loss of Joey Porter is really going to hurt this D." I don't know of anyone who said that specifically...its more of a general bone that I needed to pick. The D looked ferocious all day. 6 sacks by 6 different players and 5 turnovers...you can't really expect a defense to give (I guess take would be a better word) any more. 5 of 5 motorcycle helmets. That was Super Bowl-winning defense being displayed. A closer look at two players below...

Deshea Townsend and Ryan Clark. Early on, I was impressed by Deshea and Ryan. Both guys have been on the hot seat, with the popular notion around Steelers Nation being that Bryant McFadden and Anthony Smith, respectively, would step into their starting roles. Deshea played some tight coverage, and benefitted from a poorly-thrown Charlie Frye pass attempt. The old cat showed some moves, and was able to return it for 21 yards. Clark, on the other hand, came flying in on Frye's blind side, recording the sack and forcing the ball out of the QB's throwing hand. He added 3 tackles, and put a couple of hits on Kellen Winslow. For keeping the younger guys at bay, Deshea and Ryan each get 4 of 5 motorcycle helmets...or a combined 8 of 10!

Dan Sepulveda. Does anyone want to question the Steelers for drafting a punter to replace Chris "The Unblockable" Gardocki? This Aussie-style punter is showing why he was chosen as the Gardocki replacement by continually pinning the Browns deep. His style is different from the majority of NFL punters, but how often do rookies come in and pin 4 of 6 punts behind the 20? He's getting some massive english on the ball, and its bouncing how he wants it to bounce. I can't do that. Neither can you. Sepulveda gets 5 of 5 motorcycle helmets. Good job, rook.

Oh, and Mason Crosby, PSaMP's pick in AA's Sportsblogger's Mock Draft, kicked the game-winning field goal for the Pack over the Eagles (as well as an earlier 53 yarder). I told yinz that he was gonna be good. Compliments will be accepted at any time.

These are the players/aspects that stood out the most in my mind. Feel free to add your own thoughts and observations (and there's plenty more, I know) from the hellhole that is Cleveland.

Browns Choose Opening Day QB For Steelers To Feast On

PSAMP HAS MOVED! CLICK HERE TO GET TO THE BRAND NEW SITE! NOW!

The Browns ended months of speculation by naming their opening day QB. And its the tool in the above picture.

Charlie Frye, the wanna-be NFLer from the MAC, who won a total of 4 of his 13 starts last season, beat out last year's sentimental favorite, Derek Anderson and possible man-lover, Brady Quinn.

There were rumors that Frye was Romeo Crennel's guy, but the official word was just put out. Now the Steelers know who they will be dominating come September 9th.

When I originally heard the news, I told my Dad that I wanted Quinn to start the regular season (and his career) opener against the nasty Black and Gold, just so he could see how brutal the NFL, let alone the AFC North, will be. Sure, he engineered 4 touchdown drives in his 3 games of play in the preseason, but the Steelers aren't a whole bunch of backups. I said, "Bring on Quinn...I ain't scurred."

Frye has yet to beat the Steelers (please remind me if I'm wrong about that stat), and the pinnacle of his futility came in the Week 11 game last season, when the Browns coughed up all kinds of leads before the Steelers won, 24-20. My Aunt Barb was rushed to the hospital at the start of the game, and I had to drive to Somerset to make sure she was alright. I spent the majority of the game in the waiting room, high-fiving nurses and celebrating the come-from-behind-victory with other patients' concerned families. The win brought a sense of delight to a place (hospitals) that I can't stand.

Will Frye exercise all of his demons, leading the upstart Brownies over the celebrated Steelers? I doubt it. With Carey Davis making the team for sure, the Browns have no chance.

I'm kidding for the most part with the Davis-thing, I was just thrilled to see that he made the final cut. However, the end result will not be different. Whether it would've been Frye, Anderson or Quinn, I really don't see the Browns taking the W in Week 1.
